Inmates booked into the Coosa County Jail, will have all their personal effects inventoried and stored.
Beginning March 1st, 2012 the Coosa County Detention Facility will no longer store personal property for anyone held in the Coosa County Detention Facility longer than 30 days. All persons currently being held in the Coosa County Detention Facility, regardless of housing assignment, should make arrangements for a friend or family member to pick up their personal property prior to the 30th day of incarceration. Any personal property held longer than 30 days will be disposed of and / or donated to a local charity. It is the responsibility of the inmate to contact those individuals that they want to pick up your property. Inmates who are released from the jail and have not had their personal belongings picked up have 14 days to recover any items left at the jail. Items left past the 14 day deadline will be donated to local charities.
Family members may pick up items of housed inmates seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day. Any person attempting to pick up property must have a valid form of photo identification.
After the 30th day of custody, should you require clothing for your felony trial you are responsible for insuring that someone brings suitable clothing to the Sheriff’s Office for you to wear to court and returns to pick up those clothes after your trial is completed.
Civilian clothing for inmates going to court (jury trial only) will be accepted at the Sheriff’s Office. Clothes are to be brought between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on the morning the trail is to begin. Once a court case has ended the clothing must be picked up as soon as possible from the Sheriff’s Office.
The following clothing will be allowed for subjects incarcerated in the Coosa County Detention Center for up to 72 hours after being booked in:
- 3 white underwear
- 3 white t shirt
- 3 white pair socks
- 3 wireless bra(women only)
